It’s not often that we have the opportunity to do something not just as a community or even a country, but as the entire population of Mother Earth. In 2007 Sydney, Australia shut off the lights in the city for one hour as a comment on global warming. Last year the movent went global. I got together with friends to participate. Although it’s only 1 hour without the lights, that was long enough to show us how dependent we’ve become on electricity. One of us kept wanting to turn on a switch.
Earth Hour is this Saturday at 8:30 PM. It doesn’t matter where you are, just from 8:30 – 9:30 your own local time, turn off your lights. The goal is to have 1 billion people participate and switch off their lights. There’s been a lot of talk recently around the word “billion” but this time it’s not about money and the result will be positive!
This year we’ve decided to shut off the main breaker to our house so that we will have zero energy usage. How are you going to participate in Earth Hour?
