I was just reading the May issue of Discover Magazine and saw that it takes 869 gallons of water to make 1/3 of a pound of hamburger. I never realized that raising livestock would be so wasteful of the earth’s resources. I’m not ready to start eating bugs as my source of protein . . . at least not yet, but it has got me thinking that eating free range meat isn’t enough.
